Remember the Victory Garden? It preceeded Cooking with Julia Child on the IPBS network. Obsessed with both as a child, I am finding myself returning to those ideals. Simplicity in nuturing the very ground we walk on. Simplicity in growing from that ground. Simplicity in eating from that soil. Simplicity in living. For many, this is the newest fad, but for me, it's merely a return to my childhood. I'm finding my grandmother is right much of the time. It was her who predicted I would always return to my roots. When she said that, I worried a bit on what that meant. After all, I was meant for "greater things" than those roots. Weren't those roots meant to be merely a springboard for the rest of my life? How far from the truth my thoughts were! God is showing me the roots He gave me as a child exhibited strength, purity, and love... something I still value today.

You won't find a victory garden at the Harpers this year, but I do plan on re-learning farming in the next year to see how I can make it personally applicable to the world God wants me to reach. Stay tuned. In the mean time, here's some inspiration:
